MAC Husker Trails College of Commissioner Science

The MAC Husker Trails College of Commissioner Science offers something for every registered scout leader!  You will be able to select the track you want to study and choose electives to meet your need.  Commissioners are encouraged to use this continuing education event to facilitate improved service to their units/Districts/Councils.

Prerequisites for Each Degree:

Associates of Commissioner Science (ACS)

  • Commissioner Prerequisite
    • Current BSA registration as a commissioner, including those recently recruited
  • Course Requirement
    • Completion of Commissioner Basic(4 Hours)
    • 3 Elective Courses
  • Tracts offered
    • Unit Commissioner
    • District Commissioner

Bachelor of Commissioner Science Degree (BCS)

  • Commissioner Prerequisite
    • Current BSA registration as a commissioner, including those recently recruited
    • Complete Commissioner Basic Training or be recommended by the District Commissioner
  • Scouter Prerequisite
    • A Scouter with Council approval
  • Course Requirements
    • Completion of 4 required courses and 3 elective courses
  • Tracts offered
    • Unit Commissioner
    • District Commissioner
    • Roundtable

Master of Commissioner Science Degree (MCS)

  • Commissioner Prerequisite​
    • Current BSA registration as a commissioner, including those recently recruited
    • Complete Bachelor’s Degree or be recommended by the District Commissioner
  • Scouter Prerequisite
    • A Scouter with Council approval
  • Course Requirements
    • Completion of the four required courses and  3 elective courses
  • Tracts offered
    • Unit Commissioner
    • District Commissioner
    • Roundtable

Doctorate of Commissioner Science Degree (DCS)

  • Prerequisite
    • Completion of Master’s Degree in either Roundtable Science or Commissioner Science
    • Have been awarded the Commissioner’s Key
    • Current registration as a Commissioner
    • Earned the Commissioner Arrowhead
  • Thesis or Research Project
    • Completion of a thesis or research project on any topic of value to Scouting in the local council
    • Topic and final paper or project must be approved by the candidate’s Council Doctorate Advisor
  • Performance
    • Serve on the College of Commissioner Science faculty (instructor or support staff) for at least one year
    • Approval of Council Commissioner or designee

College of Commissioner Science Continuing Education – Will be offered new in 2019
